FIS Parent Teacher Organization

Philosophy and Objectives

 

It is the mission of the FIS Parent Teacher Organization:

To strengthen the bond between parents, teachers and our children through intensive communication and fostering a closer relationship between home and school.  

To facilitate unity between the parents and the school community thus supporting the educational environment.   

To initiate a variety ofactivities thus enhancing the “Feeling of Belonging” to the FIS community.   

The Objectives of the PTO:

Providing a forum of discussion among parents concerning issues related to the education and general development of our children.   

Communicating the views of the parents and the activities of the PTO to the FIS administration and the Board of Directors.  

Promoting mutual understanding and international friendship within the FIS community;  

Supporting and enabling new families to settle comfortably into the school and the community;   

Working with the FIS administration in the coordination of PTO events and enlisting and coordinating help from parents for activities for the benefit of the school and its students.

 Responsibilities  

The PTO at FIS is an organization of parents. We volunteer our time and talents throughout the school year, in both ongoing projects and short-term commitments, to meet our stated goals. We dedicate our efforts to support the school and its students and the community of the FIS – both parents and teachers.   

Our regular and long-term activities include:

·                        Weekly board meetings;

·                    Weekly Newsletter;

·                    Regular open PTO meetings;

·                    Bi-monthly meeting with the school administration;

·                    Regular meetings with the Herzogenaurach Elternbeiratsinitiative;

·                    Supporting school info evenings and parent teacher conferences;

·                    Supplying an annual Parent Contact List

·                    Initiating and co-ordinating the Committees;

·                    Supplying and selling school apparel;

·                   Selling logo merchandise: FIS mascot, cookbooks, calendars,  FIS mugs, FIS pens and caps.

  Committees  

We invite you to be part of a committee, either as member of its organisational team or helping out. Taking part is a way to make new friends and share in a good time, whilst learning about foreign cultures and traditions and developing new skills.  

Welcoming Committee:

Our core committee for meeting the needs of newly settled-in families is the Welcoming Committee. It provides a useful Parent Resource Guide containing a list of helpful addresses and information about Herzogenaurach and the surrounding area please consider taking part in some of the Welcoming Committee´s varied activities especially created for parents to support you in enriching your life here in Germany. There are welcome coffee mornings, shopping trips, cultural sharing, toddlers group, international cooking classes, night outs and handcrafting events.

Our PTO Office is situated in the basement of the Dassler Villa and is open every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (every second Wednesday of the month in the Convent cafeteria).
